Description: PGP, short for Pretty Good Privacy, is a public key encryption package. With it you can secure messages you transmit against unauthorized reading and digitally sign them so that people receiving them can be sure they come from you. PGP uses an RSA/IDEA hybrid encryption scheme together with the MD5 message digest algorithm for digital signatures. This is a port of PGP 2.6.3i, which is functionally identical to MIT PGP 2.6.2 (apart from a few improvements) but, unlike MIT PGP, it - can clearly be used legally outside the USA - can produce messages that earlier versions (like 2.3a) can read - has had many bugs fixed. Unlike version 2.3a, it - can read messages produced by MIT PGP - has sundry new features. Most of the speed-critical bits have been rewritten in machine code. There are two archives available. pgp263i.arc is probably the one you want; pgp263if.arc differs from it in including many files that are only needed if you want to compile PGP on a platform other than RISC OS. (If you want to do that, then I actually suggest that you get the original archive rather than using mine, since I've had to rearrange things a bit for the RISC OS filename conventions.) There is a desktop front-end for PGP in pgpwimp.arc PGPwimp version 0.12 (07/04/93) by Peter Gaunt requires RISC OS 3.10 There's another (in my opinion, better) front end called Crypter; it's free but isn't on HENSA. I'm not sure where one can get copies. Scripts to integrate PGP with ReadNews (a/a083) are available in rnscripts.arc but may only work with the old version, 2.3a, which is available in pgp230a.arc .
