TCPIPtransport version 0.03 --------------------------- TCPIPtransport is mail and news transport for !Newsbase. News is sent and received via a connection to a specified NNTP host, and mail is transported via NFS. If this doesn't suit you, you can use SMTPD to fetch your mail instead. New to this release are: support for !Newsbase's mail control file format for outgoing mail, separate getmail and getnews commands replace the previous getinfiles command (useful for auto mail debatching, but manual news debatching), and a fix to the bug which prevented cc's going out (which no-one seems to have noticed :). TCPIPtransport has been extensively tested, and there are no major problems that I am aware of. It works with Newsbase 0.55-pre-10, but you have to hack the Newsbase sources slightly. 0.55-pre-11 should have this all sorted. SMTPD version 0.05 ------------------ This is an event driven RFC821 compliant SMTP daemon for RISC OS. Intended primarily for receiving mail from other sites, it doesn't as yet support mail forwarding or outgoing mail. It does allow mail for multiple users at a site to be received, and supports aliases and simple hostname authentication. SMTPD does not rely on the wimp for it's operation, so it runs in the background at all times, regardless of what you're doing with the machine. New to this release: finally fixed the output mail files, so that lines aren't CRLF terminated. Also fixed a bug with the RSET command, which was causing considerable problems for some people. NNTPclient version 0.00a (not yet available) ------------------------ A companion module to SMTPD, this module fetches Usenet news from an NNTP server under events, ie it runs as a background task exactly like SMTPD. The chief advatanges of this are that you don't have to sit around watching the hourglass while your news is downloaded, and that it handles cross- posted articles correctly. An alpha version of this module works, but is a bit unstable. Xposted articles are handled OK, but no kill file support yet. Other stuff ----------- Canned the http server, as there are plenty of those already. Just starting a RISCOS IRC client, as a joint venture.
