PC Emulator 1.60 Upgrade ======================== Acorn has released a new version of the PC Emulator, version 1.6, which is easier to use and incorporates extra features. Easy entry and exit The PC Emulator now runs from and returns to the RISC OS desktop, leaving all your current applications and data intact. Easy file exchange You can access DOS files directly from the RISC OS desktop, using the !MultiFS application provided. This allows you to copy, delete and drag the DOS files as if they were RISC OS files. CD ROM support The CD ROM support provided gives you access to standard PC CD-ROMs, which can be displayed in a window on the screen. Mouse driver The mouse driver enables you to use the mouse supplied with your RISC OS computer as if it were a Microsoft Bus mouse Faster floating point operations Emulation of the Intel 8087 maths co-processor increases the speed of floating point operations by a factor of 14. There are additional features for systems that have 2 MB of RAM or more: Multi-tasking If your system has 2 MB of memory or more, you can run the emulator in a RISC OS desktop window. This enables you to run a DOS application (such as Lotus 1-2-3) in one window whilst running one or more RISC OS applications (such as Acorn DTP) in other windows, simultaneously. Support for EGA graphics displays If your system has 2 MB or more, you can make use use of the support for EGA graphics displays. You can select CGA, EGA or MDA display. Partial support for VGA is provided, for software which accesses the video hardware directly (Windows 3.0 can be run on an Archimedes 540).
